Hello Team – welcome to your new digital home! Here are some videos and tips to help you manage your site. Squarespace has wonderful customer service and online guides as well. I hope this training equips you to manage your site with ease and confidence, and I am course available for any ad-hoc support. For our design files, please go to our Google Folder, or your Canva account.
Bookmark your site’s backend link (keep your Squarespace log-in details safe in case you get logged out!)
For optimal loading speed, images should be no bigger than 500KB. Big banner images should be 2500px wide. Bulk Resize Photos is a great site for reducing image sizes while retaining quality. You can also batch resize images to save time. After uploading, select the ‘longest side’ option and slide it to 2500px .
Use SEO friendly keywords in image titles, headers, page titles and descriptions etc.
You can duplicate pages, but you can’t duplicate blocks within a page.
You can recover deleted pages from trash within 30 days, but you can’t go back to earlier versions of a page once you’ve ‘saved’ changes, so please be very mindful of deleting any existing content.
My strong preference is you do NOT tweak the ‘site styles’ tab. This is where I make many fundamental styling decisions for the site, so changing the settings here can compromise the integrity of the design. Of course this is your site, so if there are some styling changes you want to make (fonts / colours / sizing), then shoot me an email and we’ll work on it together.
Check your Analytics tab regularly to see how your traffic is doing, where it’s coming from, and what content is most popular.
Share, share, share! While I’ve configured your site to be SEO friendly, that’s only the first step to a thriving website (and business). The more traffic you can send to your site, the higher Google will rank it, so keep sharing and inviting people to check it out.
With any new site, it may take Google some time to reindex your pages. If you wanted to speed this process up, you can verify you site with Google Search Console. This is a non-essential SEO action that’s external to Squarespace, so I don’t include it in my standard website packages, but you can follow the instructions in the link above if it’s something you want to do.
All website graphics are designed using the platform Canva, so that you can easily make duplicates and edits in the future. I’ve shared this files with you via email, and added links to them in our shared Google folder. Here are some basic instructions.
2. Sign into your Canva account, or access files via email / Google drive link.
The first time you edit these docs, you may be prompted to create a Canva account if you don’t already have one. Please make note of your log-in deets for future.
3. Make a copy of the doc before you start editing it.
You can do this by going to File > Make a Copy (this will create a separate doc), OR just clicking the ‘Copy page’ icon above the page itself (this will add a duplicate page within the same doc, and you can just download the new page).
4. Edit the doc
For text, just click directly into the text you want to change and edit. For images, drag new image into the ‘uploads’ tab on the left, then drag new image over old one to swap.
5. Download doc
To do this click on the arrow in the top right corner. You’ll see options for what format you want to download the doc in, and you can select specific pages to download if you have more than one page.
Enjoy your site and let me know if you need any help! C x
